(Weather forecast) Email Marketing 101
No commentsBy Quinton Talley
Marketing through email has become a very popular way of marketing today. With the advent of the Internet, technology has broadened the scope and ways of marketing.
Email is short for electronic mail. This is one of the main reasons why people use the Internet. About two decades back, no one actually realized that electronic mail would become very useful and eventually be a focal point in relationships, both personal and business.
The whole email system lets people communicate with each other all the time. Early email marketers used the listings of email subscribers to be able to send their proposals and advertisements. However, not many people become amused with this fad. Sending unsolicited email or what we refer to as “spam” is a definite a “don’t” in email marketing.
This article tries to give tips on how to effectively use email for marketing and how to use it properly.
Email marketing can make or break your reputation as a marketer and the reputation of the product which you are promoting. Here are some of the ways on how to do email marketing:
-Integrate
Email marketing should be integrated into the whole marketing plan to promote a certain product effectively. Email marketing can be one of the ways and is not the only way to market a product. An array of marketing techniques should be employed by a marketer to be able to get around the market.
-Build relationships first
Getting into the email marketing bandwagon has its downsides, if it not done properly. People will get irritated if one floods a mailing list with advertisements which are not needed. In sending advertisements in e-groups or other such kinds of groups, one should be able to assess the general needs and concerns of the members before he actually plunge into a barrage of email marketing endeavors.
-Information
Email marketing, is most effective if it is part of a wider marketing scheme. Email is at its best if it is used to spread useful information for the target audience. The body of the email should contain pertinent and updated information about the product or the service. Just like in any form of marketing, email marketing should be planned and executed with care.
-Don’t send unsolicited email
One of the most irritating and agitating things about email is spam. If one is thinking about using spam mail to be able to market his product, he must give it a second thought. A lot of people hate unsolicited mail and usually won’t even open the message containing such messages. Spam will not only be a waste of time and effort from the part of the marketer, but will it will have an effect on the image of the product and the reputation of the marketer as well.
People avail of email services to be able to receive information and substantive mails from people whom they know or trust. The approach that an email marketing should be built in this line.
-Service
There’s an impression that direct email marketing is done by promoters to be able to escape from certain realities that come along with other forms of marketing. The fear of rejection is one of these harsh realities that are avoided by using email as a marketing medium. To be able to get the attention and more importantly, to be recognized seriously, an email marketer must be able to follow up quickly on the requests of his prospects. Service is the only thing that can improve the first impression towards direct email marketing.
-Permission
Spamming is not a good thing to do. It is also considered illegal in some states. However, when one asks permission from the receiver to send a marketing proposal through email, direct email marketing takes another step forward. A survey shows that people who were initially asked for permission to receive certain proposals were more interested to read the emails, as compared to the response towards unsolicited email.
Email is just one of the tools to be able to promote through the Internet, and by far, it is one of the most popular and most effective. There are a lot of unwritten rules towards doing direct email marketing but everything leads back to giving quality service to the prospects and clients.

What are MMORPGs?
By Quinton Talley
Online games are games played over a computer network. Currently, the term online almost always means the Internet. During the expansion of online gaming over the years, it gave a large influence to the overall expansion of computer networks from local networks to the Internet and the popular growth of Internet access itself.
Online games can range from text based games to complex graphical and virtual games which are populated by many players simultaneously all over the world. Many of the recent online games have incorporated online communities which made it a form of social activity.
Internet revolution where websites could utilize streaming video, audio, and a whole new set of user interactivity was made possible by the rising popularity of flash and java. When Microsoft began including flash players as a pre-installed component of “internet explorer”, the Internet shift from a data/information source to also offer on-demand entertainment.
Online Games
The inclusion of flash to internet explorers paved way for web sites to offer games to web surfers. Most the popular online games such as the popular World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI and Lineage II charge monthly fees to subscribers to access to their services, while games such as Guild Wars use an alternative scheme which offers a no monthly fee.
Most sites let their subscribers play for free by relying on advertising revenues from online sponsors. Others, like Runescape, offer people free play while leaving option of paying for special services and unlock new content.
Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG’s)
With the growth of broadband internet access in many developed as well as developing countries, massive multiplayer online games were made possible. Using the internet to allow thousands of players to play the same game at the same time made MMOG’s very popular to children, teens, and young adults. Massive multiplayer online role-playing game (World of Warcraft), Massive multiplayer online real-time strategy (Mankind), and Massive multiplayer online first-person shooter (Dark Fall) are one of the most popular styles of MMOG’s.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Games
The growing access to broadband internet has made it possible for gamers to play games at their homes and at the same time interact with other people without actually meeting them. Here are some advantages and disadvantages of playing online games at home:
Advantages:
Privacy. Players have the privilege of playing their favorite online games at home rather than going into an internet caf and line with other people just to play the games.
Cheaper. Players have the option of playing at home rather than going out and pay for the hours they play.
Safe. Players can safely play their online games at home at the same time interact with other players.
Disadvantages:
Time consuming. Online games are very competitive and to compete means spending a large amount of the player’s time playing online just to keep up with the other players.
Less social interaction. Most of the online players play at home and spend most of their time in front of the monitor. Although players interact with other players online, they still spend less time actually meeting the person and interacting with them personally rather than in front of a monitor.
Eye strain and the occasional head ache. Online games are very addictive to the majority of the players. They spend most of their time playing the game and some even spend the whole day in front of the computer. The strain on the players eyes vary on how long they play the game. While spending the whole day staring at the monitor, the eyes are strained more often than usual and even after they stop, their brain is over used the occasional head-ache is often felt.

Video Camera Components
By Quinton Talley
All video cameras contain 3 major components - the lens, imager, and recorder. The lens gathers and focuses the light on the imager, which is normally a charge coupled device (CCD) or CMOS sensor IC. Finally, the recorder will encode the video signal into a form that can be stored. Commonly, the optics and imager are known as the camera section.
The optic lens is the first component in the camera section’s light path. The optics normally have one or more the following adjustments:
1. aperture - controls the amount of light
2. zoom - controls the field of view
3. shutter speed - captures continuous motion
In most consumer units, these adjustments are automatically controlled by the video camera’s electronics, normally to maintain constant exposure onto the imager.
The imager is the “eye” of the camera, housing a photo sensitive device or devices. The imager works to convert light into an electronic video signal through an elaborate electronic process. The camera lens projects an image to the imager surface, exposing the photo sensitive array to the light.
The light exposure is then converted into an electrical charge. Towards the end of the timed exposure, the imager will convert the accumulated charge into a continuous analog voltage at the imager’s output terminals.
The third piece, the recorder, is responsible for writing the video signal to a recording medium, such as magnetic videotape. The recording function involves many steps of signal processing, and historically, the recording process introduced some distortion and noise to the stored video, such that the playback of stored signal may not retain the same detail as the original live feed.
All but the most primitive of video cameras will also need to have a recorder controlling section which will allow you to control the camera. You can also swich the recorder into playback mode for reviewing your recorded footage.
The image you recorded doesn’t need to be limited to what appeared in the view finder. For a documentation of events such as those used by the police, the fields of view will overlay such things as the time and date of the recording along the top and bottom of the image.
As you can probably tell now, a high definition video camera is very complex indeed. There are several other parts involved as well, although the above are the most important. A HD video camera is very complex in build, making it something that is more than worth the time it takes to create.
